ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Students “Software Engineering and Advanced Information Technologies” (SoftTech) serves as a platform where academic staff, students, postgraduate and doctoral students, and IT industry representatives can discuss current issues in software engineering.

The conference is organized by the Department of Informatics and Software Engineering of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

The goal of the conference is to engage students, young scientists, and IT professionals in discussing pressing problems in the field of software engineering.

Key thematic areas of the conference include:
1. Modern programming languages, paradigms, architectures, and programming methods.
2. Quantum software engineering.
3. Parallel and distributed computing.
4. High-performance computing and Big Data processing.
5. Database and knowledge base models.
6. Methods for software testing, verification, quality assessment, and optimization.

Crucially, the conference also serves as a forum for discussing the department’s educational programs. These regular discussions involve academic staff, students, members of the academic community, and representatives of employers (stakeholders).

During the 8th International Scientific and Practical Conference SoftTech-2025, held on May 13–15, 2025, the department’s management and faculty, as well as young scientists, students, and IT industry representatives, participated in a public discussion of the educational and professional program and the educational and scientific program “Software Engineering of Information Systems.” The discussion covered the implementation features of these programs and proposed ways to improve teaching quality.

During the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference SoftTech-2025 (November 26–28, 2025), a meeting took place involving the academic community, students, and specialized IT industry experts, dedicated to discussing strategic directions for the development of the educational program “Quantum Software Engineering.” Participants focused on finding joint solutions to enhance the quality of specialist training, adapt the educational process to modern industry challenges, and strengthen partnership ties. The department expresses its gratitude to all attendees for their active participation in the discussion and openness to further fruitful cooperation.

During the 10th International Scientific and Practical Conference SoftTech-2026 on May 8, 2026, a public discussion of the educational and professional program “Quantum Software Engineering” took place. The discussion was attended by the Head of the Department of Applied Information Systems, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. Zharikov E.V.; Professor of the Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. Stetsenko I.V.; Associate Professor of the Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Lishchuk K.I.; Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Polupan Yu.V.; Zarichkovyi O.A.; academic staff, students, members of the academic community, and employer representatives.

Participants analyzed current educational practices, highlighting an interdisciplinary approach, project work based on real data, and the development of international cooperation and academic mobility.

Based on the meeting results, participants formulated proposals for further program improvement. In particular, it was proposed to strengthen practical cross-platform work using quantum SDKs and cloud devices, supplement course contents with topics on reliability, verification, testing, and error correction, and expand the involvement of external partners to create relevant industry cases.

Additionally, the introduction of an introductory online module on linear algebra, basics of quantum information, and programming is planned to ensure an equal starting level of student knowledge. Participants supported the updated 90 ECTS credit edition of the program and recommended that the working group implement these initiatives through syllabi, project tasks, and partnership events.
